| Gartner Group
As Gartner expanded its strategic vision beyond research
and enhanced its portfolio of offerings, the senior executive
team recognized the need to move to a more strategic perspective
for performance appraisal, talent management, and performance
development. Their primary goal was to create a performance feedback
process that supported the behaviors required to implement the
firm's strategic direction. At the request of the senior vice
president for human capital management, Lore conducted a comprehensive
diagnostic study to develop an understanding of the feedback culture
and environment and its implications for the design of an effective
performance management system. Lore designed and developed a performance
management system that started with the corporate strategy and
worked its way through to individual performance and development
plans, ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance appraisal and
talent management. This system resulted in more-focused performance
feedback on role-specific performance drivers which differentiated
outstanding performance from acceptable performance.
Ford Motor Company
Ford recognized that development of their leadership
teams at all levels of the organization was essential to enhancing
shareholder value of the company. Ford partnered with Lore to
design a broad-based leadership development strategy, integrating
both internal and external resources, to develop action learning
programs that enhanced leadership capability and produced business
results at the same time, and to create a knowledge management
strategy for capturing the resulting business outcomes and leadership
lessons. This tracking revealed millions of dollars of shareholder
value added in addition to significant professional and personal
transformation of participating leaders across the company. The
International Consortium for Executive Development Research benchmarked
this initiative, placing it in their "global benchmark"
category as among the best in the world.
